This DUTCH PASSION classic from the 1990s has been the basis for many new hybrids. This is a strong hardy indica that is easy to grow, suitable for any type of grower and growing environment.
MAZAR is a strong indica-dominant hybrid of Afghan origin. This is a classic kushi strain with top quality thick, heavy buds with a sharp, earthy hash flavor.
Afghanica (indica from Afghanistan) is known for its compact structure, thick fat leaves and hard buds with a thick white layer of trichomes. MAZAR is no exception.
If you are looking for a strong Afghan breed with very high yields, then MAZAR is an excellent choice. The addition of a small amount of Skunk genetics makes this indica one of the strongest dominant hybrids out there.
MAZAR has incredibly sticky buds. They are also known for their highly aromatic terpene profile – the smell of the buds is very strong and pungent. Overall, the scent of Afghani hash is dominant, with earthy and piney notes predominating.
In addition, the aroma has notes of herbs, incense, citrus and sometimes sweeter flowers. When you smoke this strain, you’ll mostly taste piney, earthy flavors with a hint of fruit.
MAZAR is the original Afghani indica, crossed with a special phenotype from our legendary Skunk #1. Mostly indicas from Afghanistan are known for their hardiness and ease of cultivation. These plants grow and bloom quickly. They usually tolerate cold temperatures and develop very strong branches with thick buds and a good layer of sticky trichomes.
Crossing this Afghanica with our Skunk #1 has greatly increased yield, giving the plants a slightly less short/stubby structure, making them more suitable for all types of growing conditions and growers. Mazar is ideal for beginners and can withstand insufficient feeding during both growth and flowering. With an average flowering time of 8-9 weeks, it is still a fast flowering indica.
MAZAR is one of the strongest and best strains that DUTCH PASSION has created. Our original Mazar is a 1980’s classic created from a special Skunk #1 crossed with a high quality Afghani. In 1997, the genetic mix was improved and today Mazar is still one of our best selling and most appreciated breeds.
MAZAR is a medium-sized indica-dominant cannabis strain with a compact plant and bud structure. Its indica characteristics are most pronounced during the growing phase. As it begins to bloom, its skank characteristics come more to the fore.
It has much more streaks than pure Afghani indica. This means more buds and a bigger harvest. When growing naturally, it usually has a Christmas tree-like appearance with heavy side branches.
Durability and vigor make MAZAR an excellent choice for novice gardeners. This is a true Afghani hash plant with high potency and extreme resin production.
In the growing phase, it can have a short, compact structure with very fat dark green indica leaves. Some phenotypes have a slightly more open hybrid structure, the aerial leaves of these plants can become very large.
The most compact indica-dominant phenos are excellent plants for SOG. Thick branches, fast flowering phase and large compact dominant flowers ensure very high yields. Plants that lean more towards a hybrid structure (with a bit more Skunk genetics) can also grow perfectly in SCROG. You can use different growing techniques to increase the yield.
The strain is medium for an indica dominant cannabis plant. It continues to grow in the flowering phase for about 2 to a maximum of 3 weeks. The plants are known for their thick branches that can support large sturdy flowers. The internodal distance is short and medium, which ensures the development of large blooms.
MAZAR is a strong indica with a THC percentage of around 20%, provided it is grown in good conditions. In the hands of an expert, even higher THC percentages and very high yields are possible.

MAZAR flowers for an average of 8 weeks, but there are phenotypes that take a little longer, 9-10 weeks at most. These are usually slightly more hybrid plants with at least a little more skank genetics.

Due to the strong branches and good spacing between nodes, they also grow large in size. On average, the yield is possible up to about 400-500 g/m2. Even higher yields can be achieved in expert hands.
The leaf to flower ratio is excellent and the buds are usually covered in beautiful orange bracts and a thick layer of sticky resin. It can also be grown outdoors in sunnier, warmer climates. In more temperate climates it can be grown under shelter such as a greenhouse. Compact, heavy buds do not like high humidity, so please consider this when growing indoors or outdoors to prevent mold and bud rot.
